अयं बन्धुरयम् नेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्। 

उदारचरितानाम् तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्।।

Transliteration:

Ayaṁ Bandhurayaṁ Neti Gaṇanā laghuchetasāṁ.

Udāracharitānāṁ Tu Vasundhēva Kutumbakaṁ.

Hindi Translation:

सौ व्यक्तियों में एक ही व्यक्ति वीर होता है, एक हजार व्यक्तियों में एक ही व्यक्ति विद्वान होता है और दस हजार व्यक्तियों में एक ही व्यक्ति वक्ता होता है। लेकिन एक उदार और परोपकारी व्यक्ति (ढूंढना मुश्किल है और) कई हजारों में पाया जा सकता है।

English Translation:

Among one hundred persons only one person happens to be brave, among one thousand persons only one person happens to be a scholar and among ten thousand persons only one person happens to be an orator. But a generous and charitable person(is hard to find and) can be found among many thousands.

यदि भाग्य किसी व्यक्ति के अनुकूल है तो उसकी सभी इच्छाएं भगवान विष्णु द्वारा पूरी की जाती हैं, लेकिन यदि भाग्य उसके प्रतिकूल है तो वह जो कुछ भी उसके पास है उसे खो देता है।

English Translation:

If the destiny is favorable to a person all his wishes are fulfilled by the God Vishnu, but if destiny is unfavorable to him he loses whatever he has got.

Hindi Translation:

बड़े-बड़े सज्जनों के कर्म और रहन-सहन कितने विचित्र होते हैं? वे धन को घास के तिनके के समान तुच्छ समझते हैं और संयोग से धनवान होने पर भी धन के दबाव में नहीं झुकते अर्थात् अभिमानी और अभिमानी नहीं बनते, वरन् विनम्र और सदाचारी बने रहते हैं।

English Translation: 

How strange are the deeds and lifestyle of great noble and righteous persons? They treat wealth as very insignificant as a blade of grass, and if per chance they are wealthy, they do not yield under the pressure of their wealth, i.e. they do not become proud and arrogant, but remain polite and righteous.

Hindi Translation:

जिस प्रकार परमात्मा सभी जीवों से निष्पक्ष होकर प्रीति करता है उसी प्रकार विद्वान, राजा, धनी और शूद्रों को सब संसार से प्रीति करनी चाहिए। किसी भी मनुष्य  को उसके गुणों  गुणों के कारण सम्मान देना चाहिए परन्तु उसके दोषों  के कारण उससे द्वेष न कर उसे प्रगति के लिए प्रोत्साहित करना चाहिए। 

English Translation:

Just as God loves all living beings impartially, similarly scholars, kings, rich and shudras should love the whole world. Any man should be respected because of his qualities, but instead of hating him because of his faults, he should be encouraged to progress.

शकमयं धूमम् आराद अपश्यम्, विषूवता पर एनावरेण।

Transliteration:

Śakamayaṁ Dhūmaṁ Ārāda Apaśyaṁ, Viṣūvatā Para Enāvareṇa.

Hindi Translation:

ऋग्वेद में दीर्घतमस ऋषि का कथन है कि मैंने योग-दृष्टि से देखा है कि सूर्य के चारों और दूर-दूर तक शक्तिशाली धूम (गैस) फैली हुई है। शक्तिशाली गैस के लिए 'शकमयं धूमम' अर्थात महाशक्तियुक्त धूम शब्द का प्रयोग है।

Hindi Translation:

प्राण-अपान के संयम से मनुष्य शत्रुओं को दबाता है और अन्याय को रोककर न्याय-धर्म का प्रचार कर सकता है, अतः सभी को प्रतिदिन प्रातःकाल प्राण-अपान को संयमित करने का चिंतन करना चाहिए। 

English Translation:

With the control of life-force, a man suppresses the enemies and by stopping injustice, he can promote justice-religion, so everyone should think about restraining life-force every morning.

अपि मेरुसमं प्राज्ञमपि शुरमपि स्थिरं। 

तृणीकरोति तृष्णैका निमेषेण नरोत्तमम्। 

Transliteration:

Api Merusamaṁ Prāgyāmapi Śuramapi Sthiraṁ.

Tr̥ṇīkaroti Tr̥ṣṇēkā Nimeṣeṇa narottamaṁ.

Hindi Translation:

मेरु पर्वत की तरह स्थिर बुद्धि, चतुर और शूर दिमाग वाला व्यक्ति भी, एक क्षण भर की लालच में खुद का नाश वैसे ही कर लेता हैं जैसे जंगल की आग सूखी घास का नाश कर देती है। 

English Translation:

Like Mount Meru, even a man of steady intellect, shrewd and valiant mind, in a moment's greed destroys himself just as a forest fire destroys dry grass.

क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहः संमोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः। 

स्मृतिभ्रंशाद्बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति।।

Transliteration:

Krodhādbhavati Saṁmohaḥ Saṁmohātsmr̥tivibhramaḥ.

Smr̥tibhraṁśādbuddhināśo Buddhināśātpraṇaśyati.

Hindi Translation:

क्रोध से मनुष्य की मति मारी जाती है यानी मूढ़ हो जाती है जिससे स्मृति भ्रमित हो जाती है। स्मृति-भ्रम हो जाने से मनुष्य की बुद्धि नष्ट हो जाती है और बुद्धि का नाश हो जाने पर मनुष्य खुद अपना ही का नाश कर बैठता है। 

English Translation:

Man's mind is killed by anger, that is, it becomes stupid, due to which the memory gets confused. Man's intelligence gets destroyed due to memory-confusion and when intelligence is destroyed, man himself destroys himself.

यद्यत्संदृश्यते लोके सर्वं तत्कर्मसम्भवम्। 

सर्वां कर्मांनुसारेण जन्तुर्भोगान्भुनक्ति वै।

Yadyatsadr̥śyate Loke Sarvaṁ Tatkarmasambhavaṁ.

Sarvāṁ Karmāṁnusāreṇ Janturbhonbhunakti Vē.

संसार में लोग जो भी भोग रहें हैं, चाहे वह सुख हो या दुःख, वह उनके कर्मों का ही परिणाम है।  सभी का जीवन उनके पूर्व कर्मों के फलस्वरूप पर ही चलता है।
