(Sanskrit Story)

Bheema and Anjaneya

(Sanskrit Story)

Bheema and Anjaneya

Once the Pandavas Had to live in the forest. They lived in many beautiful forests. Once Draupadi saw a flower brought by the wind. Draupadi was mesmerized by smelling the flower. Draupadi went to Bheema and said, "bring me many beautiful flowers like these from the forest. Bheema was full of pride that he was the strongest man in the world. He started off to the forest to look for the flower asked for by Draupadi, with a lot of enthusiasm.

He searched in many places, and in the end saw the flowers in a garden from a distance. When he reached the garden, he saw a monkey sleeping his path. The monkey's tail was blocking Bheema's way. Bheema went close to it and said, O! Evil Monkey! Your tail is Obstructing my path. I want to go by this path.

Then the monkey replied, "I am very old and I live in this forest. I don't have the strength to get up. So you can move my tail and go in your way.

Then a very angry Bheemasena caught hold of the tail with the idea of killing the monkey by throwing it straight into the hell. But even after many attempts he was defeated in his attempts to move the tail. Bheema's pride was vanquished.

He said to the monkey, " Great monkey! Even with great effort, I was powerless to move your tail. It seems to me you are no ordinary monkey. Please pray tell it you are a God, or a Gandharva, or a great Siddha."

The monkey (Anjaneya) calmly replied I am Anjaneya. I am the son of the wind, and thus I am your brother.

I wanted to remove your pride, that is why I stopped you. Hanuman then gave Bheema a lot of blessings.
