Sanskrit slokas on Donation-1
आयुर्वित्तं गृहच्छिद्रं मन्त्रमैथुन भेषजं।
दानमानापमानं च नवैतानी सुगोपयेत।।
Transliteration-
Āyurvittaṁ Gr̥hachchhidraṁ Mantramaithuna Bhaṣajaṁ.
Dānamānāpamānaṁ Cha Naivatānī Sugopayet.
English Meaning -
Disclosure of one's age, financial status, weak points of the family, use of secret "Mantras", sexual intercourse, use of medicines, donations, showing respect or disrespect to someone, all these nine activities should always remain hidden from outsiders.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
व्यक्ति को अपनी आयु, ग्रह और गृह के दोष, मंत्र, मैथुन, धन, औषधि, दान, मान सम्मान, अपमान और अपनी अयोग्यता को छुपाकर रखना चाहिए अन्यथा नुकसान उठाना पड़ सकता है।

श्रोत्रं श्रुतेनैव न कुण्डलेन दानेन पाणिर्न तु कङ्कणेन।
विभाति कायः खलु सज्जनानां परोपकारैर्न तु चन्दनेन।।
Transliteration-
Śrotraṁ Śrutenaiva Na Dānena Pāṇirna Tu Kañkaṇena.
Vibhāti Kāyaḥ Khalu Sajjanānāṁ Paropakārairna Tu Chandanena.
English Meaning -
Our ears is said to be beautified by listening to the knowledge passed on to him/her by forefathers through oral tradition, but not by wearing beautiful ear rings. Our hands get dignified by giving donations, but not by wearing wrist bands and bangles. Similarity, the personality of noble and righteous persons gets glorified by good deeds done by them, but not merely applying sandal wood over their body.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
हमारे कानों की शोभा हमारे पूर्वजों से प्राप्त ज्ञान की बातें सुनने से होती है न कि कुण्डल पहनने से, तथा हाथों की शोभा दान देने से होती है न कि कङ्कण पहनने से होती है। इसी प्रकार सज्जन व्यक्तियों के व्यक्तित्व की शोभा परोपकार करने से ही होती है, न कि शरीर में चन्दन का लेप करने से होती है।
अन्नदानं परं दानं विद्यादानं अतः परम्।
अन्नेन क्षणिका तृप्तिः यावज्जीवं च विद्यया।।
Transliteration-
Annadānaṁ Paraṁ Dānaṁ Vidyādānaṁ Ataḥ Paraṁ.
Annena Kṣaṇikā Tr̥ptiḥ Yāvajjīvaṁ Cha Vivyayā.
English Meaning-
Giving food to the hungry is a great donation and donation of the knowledge is considered important among all other donations. By food one's hunger is fulfilled and one can survive at that point of time whereas the knowledge attained helps one to survive whole life.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
अन्न दान करना एक उत्कृष्ट दान माना जाता है और इसी प्रकार विद्या दान भी उत्तम है। परन्तु जहां अन्नदान प्राप्त करने वाले व्यक्ति को बहुत थोडे समय के लिये ही तृप्ति होती है विद्या दान प्राप्त करने वाले को यह तृप्ति जीवनपर्यन्त रहती है।

Donation Slokas in Sanskrit-4
वृथा वृष्टिः समुद्रेषु बृथा, तृप्तेषु भोजनम्।
वृथा दानं धनाढ्येषु वृथा दीपो दिवाSपि च।।
Transliteration-
Vr̥thā Vr̥shthiḥ Samudreṣu Vr̥thā, Tr̥pteṣu Bhojanaṁ.
Vr̥tha Dānaṁ Dhanaḍhyaṣu Vr̥thā Dīpo Divāapi Cha.
English Meaning-
Rains over the sea, food for one whose stomach is full, donation to an affluent, lighting a lamp during the day- are useless.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
समुद्र के लिए वर्षा होना व्यर्थ है। तृप्त व्यक्ति के लिए भोजन व्यर्थ है। धनी व्यक्ति को दान देना व्यर्थ है। दिन के समय दीपक जलाना व्यर्थ है।

दाना प्रतिगृहिता च शुद्धि धैर्यं च धर्मयुक।
देशकालौ च दानानामङ्गन्येतानि षड विदुः।।
Transliteration-
Dānā Pratigr̥hitā Cha Śuddhi Dhairyaṁ Cha Dharmayuka.
Deśakālau Cha Dānānāmañganyetāni Ṣaḍa Viduḥ.
English Meaning-
The grain, the receiver, the sacred, the payable thing, the country and the time - these are the parts of the six charity.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
दाना, लेने वाला, पावित्र्य, देय वस्तु, देश, और काल - ये छः दान के अंग हैं।
Sanskrit slokas on Donation-6
दानेन भूतानि वशी भवन्ति दानेन वैराण्यपि यान्ति नाशम्।
परोSपि बन्धुत्वभुपैति दानैर दानं हि सर्वेव्यसनानि हन्ति।।
Transliteration-
Dānena Bhūtāni Vaśī BHavanti Dānena Vairaṇyapi Yānti Nāśaṁ.
Paroapi Bandhutvabhupaiti Dānaira Dānaṁ Hi Sarvevyasanāni Hanti.
English Translation-
By charity all beings are subdued; Hatred ends with charity. An enemy becomes a brother by charity; All troubles are overcome by charity.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
दान से सभी प्राणी वश में होते हैं; दान से बैर खत्म हो जाता है। दान से शत्रु भी भाई बन जाता है; दान से ही सभी संकट दूर होते हैं।

अनुकूले विधौ देयं एतः पूरयिता हरिः।
प्रतिकूले बिधौ देयं यतः सर्वें हरिष्यति।।
Transliteration-
Anukūle Vidhau Deyaṁ Etaḥ Pūrayitā Hariḥ.
Pratikūle Bidhau Deyaṁ Yataḥ Sarveṁ Hariṣyati.
English Translation-
If the fortune is favourable, charity should be given because God is the giver of everything. Even if the technology is unfavourable, it should be given because God is the one who takes away everything.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
तकदीर अनुकूल हो तब दान देना चाहिए क्यों कि सब देने वाला भगवान है। तकनीक प्रतिकूल हो तब भी देना चाहिए क्यों कि सब हरण करने वाला भी भगवान ही है।

द्वाविमौ पुरुषौ लोके न भूतौ न भविष्यतः।
प्रार्थितं यश्च कुरुते यश्च नार्थयते परम्।
Transliteration-
Dvāvimau Puruṣau Loke Na Bhūtau Na Bhaviṣyataḥ.
Prārthitaṁ Yaścha Kurute Yaścha Nārthayate Paraṁ.
English Translation-
It's hard to have two types of people; One who fulfills the prayers of others, and who does not ask for anything from others.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
दो प्रकार के लोग होना मुश्किल है; जो दूसरों की प्रार्थना पूरी करता है, और जो दूसरे से कुछ मागता नहीं।

पिपीलिकाकार्जितं धान्यं मक्षिकासंचितं मधु।
लुब्धेनोपार्जितं द्रव्यं समूलं च विनश्यति।।
Transliteration-
Pipīlikākārjitaṁ Dhānyaṁ Makṣikāsanchitaṁ Madhu.
Lubdhenoparjitaṁ Dravyaṁ Samūlaṁ Cha Vinaśyati.
English Translation-
The grain collected from the ant, the honey collected from the bee, the wealth collected from the covetous one, all of these perish from the root itself.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
चींटी से इकट्ठा किया हुआ धान्य, मधुमक्खी से इकट्ठा किया हुआ मधु, लोभी से इकट्ठा किया हुआ धन, इन सभी को लेने वाला का मूल से ही नाश होता है।

अदेशकाले यद्दानमपात्रेभ्यश्च दीयते।
असत्कृतमवज्ञातं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम्।।
Transliteration-
Adeśakāle Yaddānamapātrebhyaścha Dīyate.
Asatkr̥tamavagyātaṁ Tattāmasamudāhr̥taṁ.
English Translation-
The charity which is given without any respect, contempt, in an unworthy country, time or to a virtuous person, is called Tamasic donation.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
जो दान बिना सत्कार, तिरष्कारपूर्वक, अयोग्य देश-काल में या कुपात्र को दिया जाता है, वह तामस दान कहलाता है।

यत्तु प्रत्युपकारार्थं फलमुद्दिश्य वा पुनः।
दीयते च परिक्लिष्टं तद्दानं राजसं स्मृतम्।।
Transliteration-
Yattu Pratyupakārarthaṁ Falamūddiśya Vā Punaḥ.
Dīyate Cha Parikliṣtaṁ Taddanaṁ Rājasaṁ Smr̥taṁ.
English Translation-
The donation which is given out of distress, with the feeling of retribution, or with the expectation of getting the result, is called Rajas Daan.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
जो दान क्लेश से, प्रत्युपकार की भावना से, या फल मिलने की अपेक्षा से दिया जाता है, वह राजस दान कहा गया है।

दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेSनुपकारिणे।
देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम्।।
Transliteration-
Dātavyamiti Yaddānaṁ Dīyate Anupakāriṇe.
Deśe Kāle Cha Pātre Cha Taddānaṁ Sattvikaṁ Smr̥taṁ.
English Translation-
"Giving Charity is Duty" in such a spirit that the donation given by seeing the country, time and deserving character, without any feeling of retribution, is said to be a sattvik charity.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
"दान देना कर्तव्य है" ऐसी भावना से जो दान देश, काल, और योग्य पात्र देखकर, प्रत्युपकार की भावना रखे बगैर दिया जाता है वह सात्त्विक दान कहा गया है।

आत्मार्थं जीवलोकेस्मिन को न जीवति मानवः।
परं परोपकारार्थं यो जीवति स जीवति।।
Transliteration-
Ātmārthaṁ Jīvalokesmina Ko Na Jīvati Mānavaḥ.
Paraṁ Paropakārārthaṁ Yo Jīvati Sa Jīvati.
English Translation-
Who hasn't won a human for himself in this world? But living for charity is called Jiya.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
इस दुनिया में अपने लिए कौन मानव नहीं जीता? लेकिन परोपकार के लिए जीए उसे जीया कहते हैं।

दानं भोगो नाशस्तिस्त्रो गतयो भवन्ति वित्तस्य।
यो न ददाति न भुङ्क्ते तस्य तृतीय गतिर्भवति।।
Transliteration-
Dānaṁ Bhogo Nāśastistro GAtayo Bhavanti Vittasya.
Yo Na Dadāti Na Bhuñkte Tasya Tr̥tīya Gatirbhavati.
English Translation-
Charity, enjoymet and destruction -these are the three movements of finance. One who does not give and does not even suffer, the third speed of his finances i.e., perishes.

दान, भोग, व नाश- ये वित्त की तीन गतियाँ हैं। जो देता नहीं है, और भुगतता भी नहीं हैं, उसके वित्त की तीसरी गति अर्थात नाश होता है।

वाणी सरस्वती यस्य भार्या पुत्रवती सती।
लक्ष्मीः दानवती यस्य सफलं तस्य जीवितम्।।
Transliteration-
Vānī Sarasvatī Yasya Bhāryā Putravatī Satī.
Lakṣmīḥ Dānavatī Yasya Safalaṁ Tasya Jīvitaṁ.
English Translation-
Whose speech is rasavati, wife is daughter-in-law and Lakshmi is demonic, his life is successful.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
जिसकी वाणी रसवती हो, पत्नी पुत्रवती हो, और लक्ष्मी दानवती हो उसका जीवन सफल है।

दानोपभोगरहिता दिवसा यस्य यान्ति वै।
स लोहकरभश्रेव श्वसन्नपि न जीवति।।
Transliteration-
Dānopabhogarahitā Divasā Yasya Yānti Vai.
Sa Lohakarabhaśreva Śvasannapi Na Jīvati.
English Translation-
One whose day passes without consuming charity, he is not alive like a blacksmith's blemish even though he breathes.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
जिसके दिन दान का उपभोग लिये बिना पसार होता है, वह साँस लेते हुए भी लोहार के धमन की भाँति जीवित नहीं है।

फलं यच्छति दातृभ्यो दानं नात्रास्ति संशयः।
फलं तुल्यं ददात्येत दाश्चर्यं त्वनुमोदकम्।।
Transliteration-
Falaṁ Yachchati Dātr̥bhyo Dānaṁ Nātrāsti Sanśayaḥ.
Falaṁ Tulyaṁ Dadātyeta Dāścharyaṁ Tvanumodakaṁ.
English Translation-
There is no doubt that charity gives fruit by donating, but from behind it gives the same amount of joy, that is a wonder.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
दान करने से दान फल देता है उसमें संशय नहि, पर पीछे से वह उतना ही आनंद रूपी फल देता है, वह आश्चर्य है।

यदि चास्तमिते सूर्ये न दत्तं धनमर्थिनाम्।
तध्दनं नैव जानामि प्रातः कस्य भविष्यति।।
Transliteration-
Yadi Chāstamite Sūrye Na Dattaṁ Dhanamarthināṁ.
Tadhdanaṁ Naiva Jānāmi Prātaḥ Kasya Bhaviṣyati.
English Translation-
Whose money is not given to the beggars at sunset, I do not know what will happen in the morning of the next day!
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
सूर्यास्त के वक्त जो धन याचकों को नहि दिया जाता, वह दूसरे दिन सुबह किसका होगा, यह मैं नहीं जानता!

नाना दानं मया दत्तं रत्नानि विविधानि च।
नो दत्तं मधुरं वाक्यं तेनाहं शूकरो मुखे।।
Transliteration-
Nānā Dānaṁ Mayā Dattaṁ Ratnāni Vividhānni Cha.
No Dattaṁ Madhuraṁ Vakyaṁ Tenāhaṁ Śūkaro Mukhe.
English Translation-
I gave many kinds of donations and various gems, but did not give a single sweet sentence, that's why my face is that of a pig.

मैंने अनेक प्रकार के दान और विविध रत्न दिये, पर एक भी मधुर वाक्य नहीं दिया, इस लिए मेरा मुख सूअर का है .

Dātā Chottaradaśchaiva Durlabhau Puruṣau Bhuvi.
English Translation-
In the world the asker and the questioner are accessible from house to house, but the giver and the answerer are very rare.

इस दुनिया में याचक और प्रश्नकर्ता घर-घर में सुलभ है, पर दाता और उत्तर देने वाले अति दुर्लभ है।

रक्षन्ति कृपणाः पाणौ द्रव्यं प्राणमिवात्मनः।
तदेव सन्तः सततमुत्सृजन्ति यथा मलम्।।
Transliteration-
Rakṣanti Kr̥paṇāḥ Panau Dravyaṁ Praṇamivātmanaḥ.
Tadeva Santaḥ Satatamutsr̥janti Yathā Malaṁ.
English Translation-
The miser preserves the matter in his hand like life, but the saintly man discards the same substance as excreta.
हिन्दी अनुवाद -
कृपण प्राण की तरह द्रव्य का अपने हाथ में रक्षण करता है, पर संत पुरुष उसी द्रव्य को मल की तरह त्याग देते है।
