"गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।

गुरुः साक्षात्परब्रह्मा तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नमः।।"

Hindi Translation-

गुरु ही ब्रह्मा स्वरूप हैं, जो सृष्टि निर्माता की तरह परिवर्तन के चक्र को चलाते हैं। गुरु ही विष्णु (रक्षक) हैं। गुरु ही शिव यानी विध्वंसक हैं, जो कष्टों से दूर कर मार्गदर्शन करते हैं। गुरु ही धरती पर साक्षात परम ब्रह्मा के रूप में अवतरित हैं। इसलिए, गुरु को सादर प्रणाम।

Hindi Translation-

छोटे चित (मन), यानी छोटे मन वाले लोग हमेशा यही गिनते रहते हैं कि यह मेरा है, वह उसका है, लेकिन उदारचित अर्थात बड़े मन वाले लोग संपूर्ण धरती को अपने परिवार के समान मानते हैं।

English Translation-

विद्यार्थी के पांच लक्षण होते हैं। कौवे की तरह हमेशा कुछ नया जानने की प्रबल इच्छा। बगुले की तरह ध्यान व एक्राग्रता। कुत्ते की जैसी नींद, जो एक आहट में भी खुल जाए। अल्पाहारी मतलब आवश्यकतानुसार खाने वाला और गृह-त्यागी।

English Translation-

There are five characteristics of a student. Like the crow always strong desire to know something new. Heron-like attention and concentration. Sleep like a dog, which can be opened with a sound. Snack means eater of necessity and home-abandoner.

Hindi Translation-

विद्या एक ऐसा धन जिसे न चोर चुराकर ले जा सकता है, न ही राजा छीन सकता है, जिसका न भाइयों में बंटवार हो सकता है, जिसे न संभालना मुश्किल व भारी होता है और जो अधिक खर्च करने पर बढ़ता है, वो विद्या है। यह सभी धनों में से सर्वश्रेष्ठ धन है।

English Translation-

Knowledge is such a wealth which cannot be taken away by a thief, nor can the king take away, which cannot be divided among brothers, which is difficult and heavy not to handle, and which increases on spending more, that is Vidya. It is the best of all wealth.

"अभिवादनशीलस्य नित्यं वृद्धोपसेविनं:।

चत्वारि तस्य वर्धन्ते आयुर्विद्या यशोबलं।।"

Hindi Translation-

बड़े-बुजुर्गों का अभिवादन अर्थात नमस्कार करने वाले और बुजुर्गों की सेवा करने वालों की 4 चीजें हमेशा बढ़ती हैं। ये 4 चीजें हैं: आयु, विद्या, यश और बल। इसी वजह से हमेशा वृद्ध और स्वयं से बड़े लोगों की सेवा व सम्मान करना चाहिए।

English Translation-

Greeting the elders, that is, those who greet and serve the elderly, four things always increase. These four things are: age, knowledge, fame and strength. For this reason, one should always serve and respect the elderly and elders.

"अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्।

उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैवकुटम्बकम्॥"

ये अपना है, ये दूसरे का है. ऐसा ओछी सोच रखने वाले कहते हैं ‍कि उदार लोगों के लिए पूरी संसार  एक प‍रिवार है.

"विद्यां ददाति विनयं विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्।

पात्रत्वात् धनमाप्नोति धनात् धर्मं ततः सुखम्।।"

Hindi Translation-

Hindi Translation-

साधु यानी अच्छे व्यक्ति के मन में जो होता है, वो वही बात करता है। वचन में जो होता है यानी जैसा बोलता है, वैसा ही करता है। इनके मन, वचन और कर्म में हमेशा ही एकरूपता व समानता होती है। इसी को अच्छे व्यक्ति की पहचान माना जाता है।

"रूप यौवन सम्पन्नाः विशाल कुल सम्भवाः।

Hindi Translation-

अच्छा रूप, युवावस्था और उच्च कुल में जन्म लेने मात्र से कुछ नहीं होता। अगर कोई व्यक्ति विद्याहीन हो, तो वह पलाश के फूल के समान हो जाता है, जो दिखता तो सुंदर है, लेकिन उसमें कोई खुशबू नहीं होती। अर्थात मनुष्य की असली पहचान विद्या व ज्ञान ही है।

English Translation-

Nothing beats good looks, youth and being born in a high family. If a person is illiterate, he becomes like a flower of Palash, which looks beautiful, but has no fragrance. That is, the real identity of man is knowledge and knowledge.

"षड् दोषाः पुरुषेणेह हातव्या भूतिमिच्छता।

निद्रा तद्रा भयं क्रोधः आलस्यं दीर्घसूत्रता।।"

Hindi Translation-

छह अवगुण मनुष्य के लिए पतन की वजह बनते हैं। ये अवगुण हैं, नींद, तन्द्रा (थकान), भय, गुस्सा, आलस्य और कार्य को टालने की आदत।

English Translation-

Six demerits become the cause of downfall for man. These demerits are sleep, sleepiness (fatigue), fear, anger, laziness and the habit of procrastinating.

"दुर्जन: परिहर्तव्यो विद्यालंकृतो सन।

मणिना भूषितो सर्प: किमसौ न भयंकर:।।"

Hindi Translation-

दुर्जन अर्थात दुष्ट लोग भी अगर बुद्धिमान हों और विद्या प्राप्त कर लें, तो भी उनका परित्याग कर देना चाहिए। जैसे मणि युक्त सांप भी भयंकर होता है। इसका मतलब यह हुआ कि दुष्ट लोग कितने भी बुद्धिमान क्योंं न हों,उनकी संगत नहीं करनी चाहिए।

English Translation-

Even the wicked, that is, the wicked, should be abandoned even if they are intelligent and acquire knowledge. Just like a snake with a gem is also fierce. This means that no matter how intelligent people are, they should not be associated with them.

इस श्लोक के माध्यम से विद्यार्थियों को 8 चीजों से बचने के लिए कहा गया है। काम, क्रोध, स्वाद, लोभ, शृंगार, मनोरंजन, अधिक भोजन और नींद सभी को त्यागना जरूरी है।

English Translation-

Through this verse, the students have been asked to avoid 8 things. Lust, anger, taste, greed, makeup, entertainment, overeating and sleep must all be renounced.

"अलसस्य कुतो विद्या अविद्यस्य कुतो धनम् ।

अधनस्य कुतो मित्रम् अमित्रस्य कुतो सुखम् ॥"

Hindi Translation-

आलस करने वाले व्यक्ति को ज्ञान नहीं म‍िलेगा और जिसके पास ज्ञान नहीं सके पास पैसा भी नहीं और जिसके पास पैसा नहीं होगा उसके दोस्त भी नहीं बनेंगे।

English Translation-

The lazy person will not get knowledge and the one who does not have knowledge will not have money and the one who does not have money will not even have friends.

छोटे बच्चों के लिए संस्कृत श्लोक हिंदी अर्थ सहित

"मूर्खस्य पञ्च चिह्नानि गर्वो दुर्वचनं मुखे।

हठी चैव विषादी च परोक्तं नैव मन्यते।।"

Hindi Translation-

इस श्लोक में कहा गया है कि मूर्खों की पांच पहचान होती हैं। सबसे पहला अहंकारी होना, दूसरा हमेशा कड़वी बात करना, तीसरी पहचान जिद्दी होना, चौथा हर समय बुरी-सी शक्ल बनाए रखना और पांचवां दूसरों का कहना न मानना। श्लोक इन सभी पांच चीजों से बचने की प्रेरणा देता है।

English Translation-

In this verse it is said that fools have five identities. Firstly being arrogant, second always talking bitter, thirdly being stubborn, fourthly maintaining bad appearance all the time and fifthly not obeying others. The shloka gives inspiration to avoid all these five things.

पढ़ने-लिखने से व्‍यक्‍त‍ि को व‍िनयशील बनता है और व‍िनय से काबिलियत आती है, काबिलियत से पैसे आने शुरू होते हैं। पैसों से धर्म और फिर सुख मिलता है।

Reading and writing makes a person humble and modesty brings ability, money starts coming from ability. Money gives religion and then happiness.

"मूर्खस्य पञ्च चिह्नानि गर्वो दुर्वचनं मुखे ।

हठी चैव विषादी च परोक्तं नैव मन्यते ॥"

Hindi Translation-

मूर्खों की पांच पहचान होती हैं। यथा - अहंकारी होते हैं, उनके मुंह में हमेशा बुरे शब्द होते हैं, जिद्दी होते हैं, हमेशा बुरी सी शक्ल बनाए रहते हैं और दूसरे की बात कभी नहीं मानते.

English Translation-

Fools have five identities. For example, they are arrogant, always have bad words in their mouth, are stubborn, always maintain a bad appearance and never listen to others.

"सुलभा: पुरुषा: राजन्‌ सततं प्रियवादिन:।

अप्रियस्य तु पथ्यस्य वक्ता श्रोता च दुर्लभ:।।"

Sweet-smelling and good-looking speakers are found in abundance, but those who do not look good and speak and listen are very difficult to find.

"अनादरो विलम्बश्च वै मुख्यम निष्ठुर वचनम्।

पश्चतपश्च पञ्चापि दानस्य दूषणानि च।।"

Hindi Translation-

अनादर के भाव से दान देना, देर से दान देना, मुंह फेरकर दान देना, कठोर व कटु वचन बोलकर दान देना और दान देने के बाद पछतावा करना। ये सभी पांच बातें दान को पूरी तरह दूषित कर देती हैं।

Easy Sanskrit slokas for kids

English Translation-

Donating with disrespect, giving donations late, giving donations by turning their backs, giving charity by speaking harsh and bitter words and repenting after donating. All these five things completely pollute the charity.

"आलस्यं हि मनुष्याणां शरीरस्शो महारिपुः ।

न हि सुप्तस्य सिंहस्य प्रविशन्ति मुखे मृगाः॥"

Hindi Translation-

कार्य अर्थात काम करने से ही सफलता मिलती है, न कि मंसूबे गांठने से। सोते हुए शेर के मुंह में भी हिरन अपने से नहीं आकर घुस जाता। 

English Translation-

Success comes only by doing work, not by tying the knot. Even in the mouth of a sleeping lion, the deer would not enter by itself.
