Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
Tulsi (Holy Basil) has a pungent and bitter taste, is beneficial for the heart, and has a hot potency. It may cause burning sensation and aggravate Pitta. It stimulates the digestive fire and is therefore called Deepani. It is described as being helpful in conditions such as skin disorders, difficulty in urination, blood disorders, pain in the sides of the body, and Kapha- and Vata-related disorders.
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
Tulsi has a bitter and pungent taste. It possesses a hot potency and is considered beneficial for the heart. Due to its hot nature, it stimulates the digestive fire, and therefore it is called Deepani (that which kindles digestion). It helps balance Kapha and Vata and is beneficial in conditions such as breathing difficulties, cough, and disorders caused by an imbalance of Vata and Kapha. It is also considered useful in conditions related to blood disorders, skin diseases such as leprosy, difficulty in urination, pain in the sides of the body, and similar conditions. Because of its hot nature, Tulsi may also aggravate Pitta. Therefore, people with a Pitta-dominant constitution are advised to consume it in moderation.
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
The fruit of Dhatri (Amla/Indian Gooseberry) alleviates Vata because of its sourness. Due to its sweet taste and cooling nature, it alleviates Pitta. Because of its dry and astringent qualities, it helps alleviate Kapha. Therefore, Dhatri fruit is described as beneficial for balancing all three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
The Dhatri fruit (Amla/Indian Gooseberry) is considered particularly important because it possesses all six tastes (Shad-rasa). Its principal taste is sour, which helps pacify the Vata dosha. Due to its sweet post-digestive effect (Madhura Vipaka) and cooling potency (Shita Virya), it helps pacify Pitta dosha. Because of its predominant astringent taste (Kashaya Rasa) and dry quality (Ruksha Guna), it also helps calm Kapha dosha.
Thus, because of its combination of apparently opposing qualities, Dhatri fruit is regarded as one of the important substances that helps balance all three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Because of its Rasayana (rejuvenating) property, it is also praised for supporting longevity, strength, complexion, and Ojas (vitality).
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
The fruit of Neem has a bitter taste and is described as having a pungent effect after digestion. It is considered unctuous, light, and warm in nature. It is described as being helpful in conditions such as skin disorders, abdominal masses or disorders (Gulma), piles (Arsha), intestinal worms (Krimi), and urinary disorders (Meha).
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
The fruit of Neem is naturally dominated by a bitter taste (Tikta Rasa) and has a pungent post-digestive effect (Katu Vipaka). Due to its unctuous quality (Snigdha Guna), it does not excessively aggravate Vata. Because of its hot potency (Ushna Virya), it helps pacify Vata and Kapha.
Because of its clearing or evacuating property (Bhedana Guna), it helps relieve the accumulation or obstruction of stool. The fruit of Neem is described as having particular usefulness in conditions such as skin disorders (Kushtha), abdominal disorders or masses (Gulma), piles (Arsha), intestinal worms (Krimi), and Prameha.
Therefore, in Ayurveda, Neem fruit is praised for its role in helping cleanse the doshas and alleviate diseases.
Hindi Translation :

It is considered beneficial for complexion and is described as being helpful in conditions such as skin disorders, urinary/metabolic disorders (Meha), blood disorders, swelling, Pandu (pallor/anemia-like condition), and wounds.
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
Haridra (Turmeric) possesses a pungent and bitter taste, has a dry quality, and has hot potency. Due to its pungent and bitter tastes, it helps to pacify Kapha dosha. Because of its hot potency, it is described as helping to relieve stiffness and swelling.
Because Haridra is traditionally regarded as having a blood-purifying or blood-supporting effect, it is considered beneficial for improving complexion. Ayurvedic texts describe the specific usefulness of Haridra in conditions such as Prameha, skin disorders, blood disorders, swelling, Pandu, and wounds. Haridra is also traditionally considered beneficial for wound cleansing and healing, as well as for Kushtha and related disorders.
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
Shunthi (dry ginger) has a pungent taste and a sweet post-digestive effect (Madhura Vipaka). It has a dry quality and is described as helping to pacify Vata and Kapha doshas.
All the qualities that are described for Shunthi (dry ginger) are also present in Ardraka (fresh ginger).
Hindi Translation :
English Translation :
It is stated here that the qualities of Ardraka (fresh ginger) are the same as those of Shunthi (dry ginger). Although Ardraka is considered the earlier or fresh form of Shunthi, both are described as having the same qualities.
Ardraka has a pungent taste, a sweet post-digestive effect (Madhura Vipaka), is predominantly dry in quality, and is described as helping to pacify Vata and Kapha doshas. Therefore, it is considered beneficial in conditions such as weak digestion (Agnimandya), loss of appetite or taste (Aruchi), Ama-related disorders, Kapha-dominant cough and breathing disorders (Kasa-Shwasa), and disorders of Grahani.
