विद्या पर संस्कृत श्लोक

"सुखार्थी वा त्यजेत विद्याम् विद्यार्थी वा त्यजेत सुखं। 

सुःखार्थिनो कुतो विद्या कुतो विद्यार्थिनः सुखं।।"

English Translation:

    Those who are in pursuit of a comfortable life should forget about learning and those who are in pursuit of learning should forget about comfortable living. Those who are after pleasure of life never become learned and those who want to be learned should never expect to lead an easy life as they have to toil to gain knowledge.

Hindi Translation:

    जो सुखमय जीवन की खोज में हैं उन्हें विद्या की बात भूल जानी चाहिए और जो विद्या की खोज में हैं उन्हें सुखमय जीवन की बात भूल जानी चाहिए। जो लोग जीवन के आनंद के पीछे भागते हैं वे कभी विद्वान नहीं बनते और जो सीखना चाहते हैं उन्हें कभी भी आसान जीवन जीने की उम्मीद नहीं करनी चाहिए क्योंकि उन्हें ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए कड़ी मेहनत करनी पड़ती है।

"वस्त्रेण वपुषा वाचा विद्यया विनयेन च। 

वकारैः पञ्चभिर्युक्तः नरो भवति पूजितः।।"

English Translation:

    A person who has the following five qualities which start with alphabet 'va' will be well respected in the society: i) good dress sense, ii) good physique, iii) good communication skills, iv) knowledge and v) discipline/ obedience.

Hindi Translation:

    एक व्यक्ति जिसके पास निम्नलिखित पांच गुण हैं जो अक्षर 'व' से शुरू होते हैं, समाज में अच्छी तरह से सम्मानित होंगे: i) अच्छा पहनावा बोध, ii) अच्छा शरीर, iii) अच्छा संचार कौशल, iv) ज्ञान और v) अनुशासन/आज्ञाकारिता।

"प्रमादिनां न वित्तानि न विद्या वनितापि च। 

न हि मद्यजुषा क्वापि साधनान्यथ धीश्च ह्रीः।।"

English Translation:

    People who perform their job carelessly and negligently can neither be rich nor well educated. They even may not have a wife and likewise, people addicted to liquor are also devoid of means of livelihood, wisdom, modesty and shyness.  

Hindi Translation:

    लापरवाही और लापरवाही से अपना काम करने वाले लोग न तो धनी हो सकते हैं और न ही सुशिक्षित। उनकी पत्नी भी नहीं होती और इसी तरह शराब के आदी लोग भी आजीविका, ज्ञान, लज्जा और लज्जा के साधनों से रहित होते हैं।

"अलसस्य कुतो विद्या अविद्यस्य कुतो धनं। 

अधनस्य कुतो मित्रं अमित्रस्य कुतो सुखं।।"

English Translation:

    Where is knowledge for a lazy person? Where is the money for the education less? Where are the friends of the moneyless? And where is the happiness of the friendless?

Hindi Translation:

    आलसी इन्सान को   विद्या कहाँ ?  विद्याविहीन को धन कहाँ? धनविहीन को मित्र कहाँ ? और मित्रविहीन को सुख कहाँ?

"रूपयौवनसम्पन्ना विशाल कुलसम्भवाः। 

विद्याहीना न शोभन्ते निर्गन्धा इव किंशुकाः।।"

English Translation:

    Beautiful, full of youth and may be born in a big clan, but those who are without knowledge, they do not beautify like a flower of Kesude without fragrance.

Hindi Translation: 

    रुपसंपन्न, यौवनसम्पन्न और चाहे विशाल कुल में पैदा क्यों न हुआ हों, पर जो विद्याहीन हों, तो वे सुगंधरहित केसुडे  के  फूल की भाँति शोभा नहीं देते। 

विद्या पर संस्कृत में श्लोक

"विद्याभ्यास स्तपो ज्ञानमिन्द्रियाणाम् च संयमः। 

अहिंसा गुरुसेवा च निःश्रेयकरं परम्।।"

English Translation: 

    Learning, penance, knowledge, sense-restraint, non-violence and Guru's service - these are the ultimate welfare.

Hindi Translation:

    विद्याभ्यास, तापा, ज्ञान, इन्द्रिय-संयम, अहिंसा और गुरु सेवा -ये परम कल्याणकारक हैं। 

"नास्ति विद्या समं चक्षु नास्ति सत्य समं तपः। 

नास्ति राग समं दुखं नास्ति त्याग समं सुखं।।"

English Translation:

    There is no austerity like learning, no sorrow like attachment, and no happiness like renunciation. 

Hindi Translation:

    विद्या के समान तपस्या नहीं है, आसक्ति के समान दुःख नहीं है और त्याग के समान सुख नहीं है। 

''विद्याविनयोपेतो हरति न चेतांसि कस्य मनुजस्य। 

कांचनमणिसंयोगो नो जनयति कस्य लोचनानन्दम्।'' 

English Translation:

    Which man's heart does not abduct a learned and humble man? The combination of gold and gem does not give pleasure to whose eyes?

    विद्यावान और विनयी पुरुष किस मनुष्य का चित्त हरण नहीं करता? सुवर्ण और मणि का संयोग किसकी आँखों को सुख नहीं देता ?
