राजा और बंदर

    एकस्मिन् नगरे कश्चन राजा आसीत्।  तस्य भवने कश्चन् वानरः आसीत्। सः वानरः महाराजस्य अतीव प्रियः अभवत्। अतः तस्य वानरस्य राजभवने सर्वत्र गन्तुं अनुमतिः आसीत्। सः वानरः प्रतिदिनं राजभवनं गत्वा स्वेच्छया उद्याने क्रीडित्वा सुखं अवसत्। एकदा राजा निद्रायाम् आसीत्। 

    तदा वानरः  एकं व्यजनं गृहीत्वा वीजनं कर्तुम् आरभत्। अत्रान्तरे एका मक्षिका महाराजस्य वक्षस्थले उपविशत्। तां मक्षिकां दृष्ट्वा कुपितः वानरः व्यजनेन तां दूरीकर्तुं प्रयत्नम् अकरोत्। परन्तु सा मक्षिका ततः दूरं न अगच्छत। 

    तदा अतीव कुपितः, स्वभावेन मूर्खः च वानरः तां मक्षिकां हन्तुम् एकं तीक्ष्णं खङ्गं गृहीत्वा वेगेन ताडयितुं यत्नं अकरोत्। वानरस्य चेष्टां दृष्ट्वा सा मक्षिका झटिति उड्डयनं कृत्वा दूरं अगच्छत्।  खङ्गप्रहारः तु महाराजस्य वक्षस्थले अपतत्। तेन सः महाराजः तत्रैव व्रणितः अभवत्।

 The King and the Monkey

    Once there was a king in a city. In his palace there was a monkey. The king was very fond of the monkey. Therefore the monkey was given permission to go anywhere in the palace. The monkey used to freely go to the palace, play there and lived there happily. Once the king was sleeping. 

    The monkey took a fan started fanning the king. Then a fly came and sat on the king's chest. On seeing the fly, the monkey tried to shoo it away using the fan. But still the fly did not go away.

    Then the angry monkey who was by nature stupid, took a sharp sword and started beating with it. Seeing the action of the monkey, the fly flew away quickly. The hit of the sword fell upon the king and he was seriously injured.
